Teaching the Holocaust and Modern Genocide Through History, Testimony, and Art

A one-day workshop where you’ll explore imaginative, student-centered approaches that bring complex histories to life. You’ll leave with adaptable lessons that use visual analysis, personal narratives, and inquiry-based learning to examine the Holocaust and genocide, including focused study of the Cambodian and Uyghur genocides.

This training equips educators with interdisciplinary strategies for using historical inquiry, survivor testimony, primary sources, and art, with clear classroom applications.

  • The Cambodian and Uyghur genocides explored through historical narratives, testimony, and patterns of denial.
  • The Holocaust’s impact on childhood and family through the artwork of Sam Bak, child survivor, with student-centered art activities.
