Michele is a National Board Certified teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She was a 2017 LAUSD Teacher of the Year as well as a 2017 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year and currently teaches Advanced Honors English for the Humanities to middle school students. Michele is passionate about enabling students to recognize and respond to language and actions that reflect the stages of genocide as a means of ensuring they understand the importance of civic engagement and develop a willingness to work to construct a freer, more just future for all. She has been a member of the California Teachers Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education since 2023, and she currently serves on the ELA Advisory Board for Facing History and Ourselves.
