This unit includes two stand-alone lessons, Cultural Identity-Art Expressions and Cultural Identity-Understanding your Roots. The first lesson explores the role art plays in shaping and expressing identity. The second contemplates the role ethnic/religious/cultural heritage plays in identity. Both on the connective power of stories from survivors and witnesses of genocide to build social-emotional capacities in students. The featured testimonies represent witnesses of the Armenian Genocide, Cambodian Genocide, and the Holocaust.
