This primer synthesizes current knowledge about genocide, specifically, summaries of core questions about genocide with a focus on the human face of genocide. To prepare high school educators (also adaptable for middle school) to teach about genocide, this primer provides background knowledge and pedagogical strategies. It offers a process-oriented, interdisciplinary, human-focused conceptual framework for the study of genocide, designed to support education in the classroom and beyond, from engagement among teachers and administrators to parents and the broader school community.
