This six-lesson introductory sequence prepares students to engage thoughtfully with Holocaust literature by building background knowledge about the Holocaust, antisemitism, genocide, identity, Jewish life, and historical context. Students also explore strategies for engaging with emotionally challenging content and develop skills in reflection, discussion, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making. It includes introductory lessons, historical context mini-lessons, planning templates, teaching strategies, and professional learning resources along with title-specific teaching guides with ready-to-use essential questions, classroom activities, discussion and journal prompts, and assessment options for Night, Somewhere There is Still a Sun, and The Children of Willesden Lane
